What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery Training Manager position at Birth Tissue Donor Services?

We aim to hire dedicated and dependable team members with an exceptional work ethic, integrity, and a shared passion for our mission. We are currently seeking one full-time Recovery Training Manager to support our established donation programs.
The primary responsibilities include training and assisting recovery staff, identifying and assessing employee training needs, designing and implementing tailored training programs, conducting audits, effectiveness checks of training and trainers, handling the training schedule for new recovery staff, recovering tissue on a per-diem basis as needed, and maintaining hospital relations.
BTDS follows all hospital policies, regulations, and procedures, as well as aseptic techniques and OR protocols. Professionalism, affability, and a positive attitude are essential while representing BTDS.
Please note that candidates must be able to meet all hospital vendor-credentialing requirements, which typically include verifiable immunization against hepatitis B, influenza, and other communicable diseases.
Duties Include:
- Oversee and conduct birth tissue recovery training, including training the trainers
- Work in conjunction with BTDS’ corporate Training Coordinator to develop and initiate training programs as well as write and amend training policies and procedures
- Coordinates with Quality and Recovery Leadership to ensure that recovery training files are kept up to date
- Assist with signs off on new recovery staff, field audits, and RCs’ annual competencies
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of BTDS’ standard operating procedures and policies, as well as applicable regulatory standards (AATB & FDA)
- Engages in all birth tissue recovery processes and follows all hospital protocols to ensure that tissue recovered is safe for transplant and positive hospital relationships are developed and maintained
- Travels to other BTDS locations as needed with potential for extended overnight stays to assist with training as needed
- Performs other duties as required
- Performs all coordinator responsibilities as they apply under the recovery coordinator JD for designated areas
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid state driver's license and reliable transportation
- Basic computer skills
- Solid organizational and communication skills
- Operating room experience or surgical tech certification
- At least 1 year of training experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Related experience in the health or medical field
- CTBS or preparing to obtain CTBS
- OPO, tissue recovery, and/or eye banking experience
- Birth tissue recovery experience
- Proficient in sterile and aseptic techniques
Schedule: Variable hours. We are anticipating for this position to be on the road about 40-60% of the time. The remainder of the time will be spent working remotely.
Due to our commitment to giving all mothers the opportunity to donate their birth tissue, please note that some Saturday work hours will be required.
