What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Instructional Assistant - Birth to Five position at BIRTH TO FIVE?
Hours
10 months, 35 hours per week
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, community agencies, and administrators.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using both English and Spanish.
Ability to use classroom and instructional equipment.
Ability to operate standard office machines, and various technology platforms.
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and administrators.
Excellent organizational and self-starter skills.
Responsibilities:
Assist Birth to Five staff in providing services within the home, child care or other natural environments on specific concepts/skills according to the students’ ability level.
Assist with group activities, playgroups, and other special programs/activities for students and families.
Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce material introduced by teacher.
Provide programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by teacher or therapist.
Translate family newsletters to share with the community.
Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Coordinator of Birth to Five and Director of Special Education.
