JOB TITLE: Kitchen Specialist

REPORTS TO: Kitchen Manager

PURPOSE: To cook quality food and provide great customer service.

All of our staff members are required to work respectfully and productively as part of a team of professionals; to understand and practice proper food handling; to perform efficiently and effectively all assigned duties; and to take responsibility for their work.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Prepare a medley of food items for cooking in a variety of kitchen appliances.
  • Greet all customers that approach the window or sit at a table and take their food orders.
  • Maintain basic knowledge of the menu and offer constructive feedback.
  • Be willing and able to operate the latest point-of-sale technology.
  • Assume responsibility for quality of products served.
  • Understand and comply with our established portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure a smooth service period.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation, including tables, shelves, grills, panini press, fryer, range top, oven, flat top range, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Properly handle, store, and rotate all products.
  • Assist in food or other general prep during off-peak periods as needed or to prepare for the next shift.
  • Open/close the kitchen properly and follow the opening/closing/daily checklists for kitchen stations.
  • Wash and store all dishes, and keep dish station clean
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager-on-duty.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 1 year in a kitchen or restaurant position
  • In-depth knowledge of cooking, food handling, food preparation, and customer service

Job Duties:

  • Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safety and efficiently
  • Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation
  • Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment
  • Restock items as needed throughout the shift
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes

  • 20-29
