JOB TITLE: Bar Manager
REPORTS TO: Proprietors
PURPOSE: To keep the bar operating at an acceptable quality standard
OVERVIEW:
Be part of a friendly, dynamic, enthusiastic, and diverse team of professional hospitality stars.
The Bar Manager will promote and grow the business, hire and train bar staff, and ensure that patrons are receiving excellent service. The Bar Manager will also manage inventory and resources, plan promotional events, ensure that quality and safety controls are upheld, maintain current licenses, update vendor contracts, create schedules, and set business objectives to increase profits and maximize customer satisfaction.The ability to work with diverse personalities and diffuse tense situations is essential.
EXPECTATIONS:
- Manage the business aspects of the bar, such as keeping a current liquor license, negotiating supplier contracts, taking inventory and reordering supplies, managing budgets, and setting goals
- Hireand train bar staff to provide excellent service to patrons
- Createeffective schedules and quickly resolveconflicts to ensure that the bar is well staffed during peak hours
- Set and enforcequality and safety controls
- Work with diverse personalitiesonboth sides of the bar
- Plan and takepart in promotional events
- Diffusetense situations between patrons or staff members to prevent possible safety or legal issues; thisincludes ejecting unruly persons, as needed
- Respond to feedbackand fulfill work ordersin a timely manner
- Complete daily rounds, identifying and reporting problems
- Conduct research and explore creative solutions
- Maintaina fun, safe atmosphere for patronsand team members
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 years in a bar managementor similarposition
- In-depth knowledge of mixology, customerservice, current regulations,and general bar responsibilities
