Our Physical Therapist Assistant implements the plan of care as established by the Physical Therapist and Physician in a professional, competent manner, upholding excellence with quality care.
A Typical Day
- Screen all residents in facility on a quarterly basis, to identify those who have experienced declines in their functional abilities and determine if Physical Therapy intervention is indicated.
- Carry out and identify need for modification of treatment program according to plan of care in consultation with Registered Physical Therapist
- Monitor and report resident performance and progress.
- Assist Registered Physical Therapist in re-assessment of patients. Assist in determining need for continued services or discontinuation of services based on patient progress.
- Assist Registered Physical Therapist in discharge planning.
- Educate staff, family and care givers as indicated.
- Complete all required documentation according to guidelines specified in Documentation Manual.
- Coordinate in-services for facility staff as need is determined, to ensure safe and effective carry over of Maintenance/Restorative Programs and overall call of the residents.
- Attend all facility required meetings.
- Attend Continuing Education courses specific to current position.
What We Need In A Candidate:
- Associate Degree from an accredited Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant program required
- Must meet all certification and licensure requirements as established by the state and national board associations.
- Familiarity with Rehab Optima, Ultipro, Healthcare Source, MedBridge, PlanSource, RightTrack, PCC and other computer software programs.
- Active South Carolina license required.
- Active CPR certification
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, and lift (up to 50 pounds /-).
- Must demonstrate professionalism, required assessment abilities, and clinical skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
