Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community–a renowned retirement community based in Charleston–is expanding its mission and market reach through an affiliation creating Seafields at Kiawah Island by Bishop Gadsden. Building on its long connection to the Sea Islands and a 174-year history of excellence in senior living, we are looking for a Full Time Business Office Assistant, to partner alongside our Administration and Finance teams.
The purpose of the Business Office Assistant is to assist in performing the daily functions of the business office department of Seafields by Bishop Gadsden in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) as it relates to Senior Living/Healthcare industries.
A Typical Day:
- Set up and maintain residents in billing, actuarial and meal plan software systems.
- Report on weekly Entrance Fee collections.
- Maintain Resident Away worksheets.
- Assist with resident closing meetings.
- Assist will monthly billing processing and answer resident questions.
- Maintain accurate vendor records - set up and track vendors, maintain vendor compliance records and reconcile monthly vendor statements including credit cards.
- Set up employees in payroll software, maintain demographic records, and maintain payroll data.
- Report daily occupancy census for both IL and AL .
- Prepares monthly journal entries, reconciliations and assist with monthly financial reporting.
- Prepares monthly inventory reconciliations and prepare appropriate journal entries.
What We Need In A Candidate:
- Background in bookkeeping and/or accounting and human resources
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher (preferred Business Administration Degree)
- Minimum three years’ experience
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written.
- Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Seafields/Bishop Gadsden employees.
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, and lift (up to 50 pounds /-).
