SUMMARY
The Theatre Coach guides actors and performers of all levels to unlock their full potential on stage. The Theatre Coach provides individualized coaching, direct performances, and foster a collaborative, creative, and supportive environment. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in musical theatre, acting, performance, and stage direction, with an emphasis on helping theatre students develop their skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. Thespian Coaching
· Provide Thespian Individual Event coaching sessions tailored to each student/event specific needs and abilities.
· Develop training plans focusing on performance, character development, emotional range, voice, movement, and stage presence.
· Help actors analyze scripts and musical pieces, understanding character motivations, objectives, and relationships.
· Coach students to maximize their potential towards superior ratings at thespian competitions.
Group Training & Ensemble Work
· Lead group rehearsals and foster team dynamics for large and small group events.
· Create an inclusive, collaborative environment that encourages creativity and mutual support.
· Design and implement warm-up exercises, voice training, and physical theatre techniques to prepare the group for rehearsal.
Performance Preparation
· Assist performers in preparing for auditions, performances, and rehearsals by refining lines, blocking, and character development.
· Provide constructive feedback during rehearsals and offer techniques to overcome performance challenges.
Voice & Movement Coaching
· Provide specialized coaching in vocal technique (projection, enunciation, and tone) and movement (body awareness, physicality, and expression).
· Guide performers in developing a flexible and strong voice and body suited to the demands of the performance.
Creative Input and Direction
· Collaborate with directors, choreographers, and designers to ensure performances align with artistic vision.
· Offer creative suggestions and innovations to deepen character portrayals and enhance storytelling.
Skill Development Workshops/Camps
· Offer ongoing training in various acting methods, improvisation, and other theatre techniques.
· Teach various performance skills, from monologue preparation to stage combat, depending on the needs of the production.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Proven experience as a theatre coach, director, or acting instructor, five years or more.
- Strong background in theatre performance and direction.
- Familiarity with vocal and movement techniques.
- Ability to work with students with a wide a range of skill levels
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative, patient, and motivational approach to coaching.
- Experience with group dynamics and working in an ensemble setting.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by five (5) or more years of previous progressively experience.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Flexible hours depending on production schedules (evenings and weekends may be required).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- Travel may be required to chaperone students to Thespian competitions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Tasks may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (10 pounds). Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar. Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form.
