Academic Support Liaison Job Summary
Bishop O'Dowd High School seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate Academic Support Liaison to support students with organizational and strategic tutoring through a one-on-one academic coaching model. The Academic Support Liaison is also responsible for the Academic Support Center and Peer Tutoring Program. The Academic Support Liaison reports to the Director of Academic Support and is a member of the Academic Support team of four people who work collaboratively to support students. Academic Support staff partner with counselors, our Director of Health & Wellness and Therapeutic Services, and administrators to support students’ academic success.
Academic Support Liaison Responsibilities
Academic Coaching
Provide one-on-one academic support to LD/ADHD students and students on academic probation, and other students (by referral only).
Build rapport with students.
Develop and maintain written academic support plans that are shared with the counselor, student, and parents.
Log attendance for academic check-ins.
Weekly meeting with Counselor for LD/ADHD students.
Refer students to in-house supports (peer tutoring, SMART sessions, office hours, etc) as needed.
Peer Tutoring
Recruit peer tutors, hold informational meeting at the beginning of the school year.
Lead 3 peer tutor training sessions per semester.
Meet regularly with Lead Peer Tutors.
Manage selection process for Lead Peer Tutors.
Manage peer tutor schedules / track volunteer hours.
Create and maintain an appropriate atmosphere in the Academic Support Center.
Collect and analyze data re: use of Academic Support Center and tutors.
Academic Support Liaison Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Experience providing academic support to students in a school setting.
Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, administrators, and parents.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Student Information/Learning Management platforms (e.g., Schoology, Canvas, PowerSchool, or similar systems) to track student progress.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
Positive attitude, flexible approach, strong interpersonal skills.
