Position Summary
The Cheerleader Coach works to prepare cheerleaders physically and mentally, while teaching them proper techniques, teamwork, and safety methods. While acting as the official chaperone and providing supervision as the team travels, the Cheerleader Coach serves as a positive role model to the cheerleaders. The Cheerleader Coach is responsible for preparing the team for all performances, teaching game etiquette, cheers, and dances.

- Work with cheerleaders during practices and meets.
- Hold organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage students to participate.
- Assess skills and assign team positions.
- Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Work with the athletics director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.
- Coach and instruct cheerleaders, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Observe cheerleaders, during events and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
- Establishandmaintainstandardsofpupilbehaviorandprovidepropersupervisionofstudentsatall times.
- Monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
- Follow established procedures in the event of an injury.
- Follow state, regional, and district regulations governing the program.
- Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, officials, and spectators.
- Actasateamrepresentativeandpromotethecheerleadingteambycommunicatingwiththenewsmedia, booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations.
- Follow established procedures for supplies and uniforms.
- Work with the AthleticDirectortodevelopapolicyforawardsandsubmitalistofawardwinnersattheend of the season.
- Maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
- Maintainfiscalresponsibilityasitrelatestotheawardingofscholarshipsandtheuseoffundsfor uniforms, travel, etc.
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Assume other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Division Chair, appropriate Dean, the President or his designee.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, Dean of Students, and/or President.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accreditedinstitution.
- Minimum of two (2) years of successful coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Learned physical skill is required for keyboarding. Frequent walking, standing, or sitting may be required. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.
