What are the responsibilities and job description for the Theology Teacher/ Campus Ministry Assistant position at Bishop Verot Catholic High School?
Overview
Under the supervision of the Director of Campus Ministry, the Campus Ministry Assistant supports and assists in the coordination of retreat programs, liturgical services, religious trips, OCIT, Life nights, Catholic Identity Presentations, Bible Study; as well as collaborates with the Campus Ministry team to maintain and strengthen the Catholic Identity and culture of the school. The Campus Ministry Assistant will also teach theology classes (2-4) within the USCCB Curriculum Framework.
Job Responsibilities
- Model a prayer and faith life for students, regularly attending Mass at a Catholic parish.
- Available to students and colleagues in need of pastoral care or spiritual guidance.
- Implement Campus Ministry programs or other youth ministry programs.
- Develops and administers school grade-level curriculum consistent with Diocesan goals and objectives.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction.
- Develop detailed lesson plans and related instructional materials.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences; differentiates instruction based on student learning style and needs.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning.
- Continue professional knowledge of developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops and professional meetings.
- Encourages parental involvement in student education and ensures effective communication to students and parents.
- Administers standardized tests in accordance with Diocesan assessment programs.
- Actively participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Participates in activities outside of the classroom involving students.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Theology, Pastoral Ministry or in any academic discipline is strongly preferred, that is applicable to this teaching assignment.
- Diocesan catechetical certification (or equivalent) is also preferred.
- Hold a current, 5-year renewable Professional Florida Educator Certificate; a 3-4 year non-renewable Temporary Florida Educator Certificate or be eligible for certification.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy.

Must be comfortable and confident in delivering Campus Ministry faith formation to students, faculty, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent communications skills both written and oral.
- Knowledge of school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use technology to enhance student learning.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Complete and pass a FDLE Level 2 background check.
