Assistant Guardian for The Bishop Walker Guesthouse
Position Description
The Assistant Guardian will oversee all aspects of the day to day operations of The Bishop Walker Guesthouse. They must be a motivated individual who is personable and able to multitask as they will be required to run a "one person" operation under the direction of the Guardian and with some assistance from Diocesan staff. The Assistant Guardian will be in charge of all operations as well as Reservations, Revenue Management, Staffing, Food & Beverage, Purchasing, Housekeeping, Maintenance and Engineering. A great opportunity for a hospitality professional. The position is well suited to someone who enjoys personable interaction with guests and is hospitality oriented. The Assistant Guardian, along with the Guardian, offers all services to the guests from the time of check in to their departure, as well as directing them around the Cathedral Close and the village of Garden City. An individual who enjoys taking charge and leading others will find this an exciting challenge and career opportunity to run and maintain all the many facets of "Bed & Breakfast"(presently a seven bedroom and four full bath residence). The Guesthouse is used for many Diocesan and Cathedral events, but primarily it is a place of hospitality for overnight accommodations. As the Assistant Guardian for The Bishop Walker Guesthouse, this individual must maintain a pleasant, willing, gracious and courteous attitude at all times.

Accountabilities:
The Assistant Guardian is directly accountable to the Rev. Canon Michael F. Delaney, who is the Guardian of the Guesthouse and also resides there. This position will be full time.
Nature and Scope of the Work:
Assigned responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Ensure that the guesthouse is properly run and managed.
- Set up & breakdown breakfast
- Check in / Check out guests.
- Review and answer guesthouse e-mails.
- Review and update reservations.
- Review and reply to online reviews by our guests.
- Revenue Management.
- Guest Bookings. Update Guesthouse calendar.
- Purchasing for the Guesthouse. (food, supplies, and other needed items)
- Guesthouse maintenance & engineering. (Contact appropriate vendors for building projects/repairs)
- Maintain bedrooms. (linens, towels, and room set up)
- Set up and straighten up before and after meetings or gatherings.
- Set up cleaning schedule and laundry pick-up.
- Follow through on any questions or concerns of guests.
Essential Functions or Critical Skills:

Experience:
- At least two years’ experience as a house manager or host/hostess
Background Check:
- A criminal background check is required of all staff before employment. All employees are required to complete Sexual Harassment, Racism and Child Abuse Prevention training.
Compensation:
- Compensation commensurate with experience
- Employees working 20 or less hours per week are not eligible for benefits
- 2 weeks’ vacation allotted each year
- 3 NYS Sick & Safety Leave days per year
- Your birthday off
- Time and a half paid on Holidays
