This position provides professional planning support for assigned Metropolitan Area Transportation Planning Organization (MPO) programs and functions.• Administers, coordinates, and facilitates (MPO) activities and programs.
• Manages MPO studies.
• Utilizes GIS software to develop and variety of maps.
• Develops federally mandated MPO documents and reports.
• Participates in the preparation, maintenance and updating of the Long Range Transportation Plan.
• Prepares a variety of regular and special reports.
• Participates in or manages MPO-related public meetings.
• Prepares and coordinates MPO-related funding applications and budgets.
• Assists in the administration of the local transit system.
• Answers inquiries and provides technical assistance to the public, jurisdictional partners, and federal and state oversight agencies.
• Develops and participates in special projects.
• Performs related duties.

- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Knowledge of transportation and land use planning principles.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to transportation planning, zoning, land use, public participation and open records.
- Knowledge of project management principles.
- Knowledge of budget management principles.
- Knowledge of grant management principles.
- Knowledge of MPO requirements and regulations.
- Knowledge of computers and job related software programs.
- Skill conducting research and analysis of planning-related information.
- Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.

Salary : $67,646 - $76,102
