Position Information

Your Role in the Smile Magic:
- Assist the dentist during pediatric procedures: Help make every visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for our youngest patients.
- Polish and shine: Use your skills to polish the coronal surfaces of teeth for kids 12 and under (you’ll be the tooth fairy’s sidekick!).
- Prepare and sterilize equipment: Make sure everything is clean and ready to go, because we take pride in a spotless and safe environment.
- X-ray pro: Take and develop dental X-rays like a champ.
- Educate kids and parents: Share tips and tricks on how to maintain healthy, sparkling smiles at home.
- Stay organized: Keep patient records up-to-date and ensure treatment rooms are always clean, organized, and stocked.
- Create a fun, welcoming vibe: Let’s face it—going to the dentist can be scary for kids, but not at the BSC Mystic Smiles Dental Clinic! You’ll help create an environment where kids are excited to come back.
Regulatory Compliance & Office Procedures:
- Stay up-to-date on training: Ensure that all HIPAA, OSHA, and risk management training is current, and proactively schedule any necessary updates while ensuring compliance.
- Display required information: Ensure that all necessary HIPAA notices, privacy practices, and other legal documents are displayed as required by federal, state, or local regulations.
- Handle patient records securely: Safeguard patient records by securely storing and managing them in full compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support office procedures: Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining office protocols to ensure smooth operations and regulatory compliance.
Benefits
COMPENSATION: $25/hr-$35/hr based on directly related experience. This position will be scheduled to work approximately 24 hours per week.

Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Dental Assistant program or equivalent.
- X-ray certification
- CPR certification
- RDA, CDA, or QDA (will need to be able to take X-Rays)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children
- Patience and friendly demeanor to help ease dental anxiety.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
- Possess knowledge of medical/dental terminology.
- Understand and comply with licensing and continuing education requirements for professional staff.
- Understand and comply with dental office HIPAA compliance.
- Understand and comply with the HI-TECH Act of 2009.
- Interpersonal and collaborative communication skills that relates well with students, staff, patients, faculty, and the dentists.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Exceptional organized, detail oriented, time management, and active listening skills
- Working knowledge of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, electronic calendar, and e-mail, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a dental assistant in a pediatric setting
- Knowledge of child-friendly behavior management techniques
- Familiarity with dental software (e.g. Dentrix Ascend)
