Position Description & Details
In this exciting role, you’ll play a key part in enhancing the student experience at Bismarck State College by providing support to our Campus Information Center, Student and Residence Life, and various Student Union areas. You’ll be at the heart of student engagement, event planning, and making sure students have the information they need to succeed!
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet students, parents, and visitors, providing helpful directions and answering questions about the campus.
- Maintain and order supplies for the Mystic Print printing system and monitor its functionality.
- Issue student and employee IDs, manage the ID system, and serve as the primary contact for any ID-related issues.
- Distribute up-to-date information to students, faculty, staff, and visitors in both print and digital formats.
- Provide phone and office support during peak times and high-traffic events.
- Assist with student housing applications and coordinate calling campaigns at the start of each semester.
- Help plan, budget, schedule, and execute campus activities in collaboration with the Student Engagement Coordinator.
- Assist student organizations with their planning and participation in campus events.
- Manage social media and campus event calendars, keeping students informed and engaged.
- Support programming needs, including creating and ordering promotional materials.
- Help maintain and update bulletin boards, digital displays, and signage throughout the Student Union.
- Assist with booking and maintaining meeting rooms and display cases.
- Support the BSC Bookstore and Mystic Marketplace with special tasks and social media updates.
- Ensure students and campus visitors have access to the most current event and menu information.
- Manage the Student Union’s lost and found and assist with sorting and distributing mail.
- Help with end-of-year inventory and contribute innovative ideas to improve department functions.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to keep things running smoothly.
Minimum Requirements
- Appropriate associate degree or two years of directly related experience.
- Good working knowledge of office procedures.
- Excellent telephone and receptionist skills.
- Good customer service experience and common courtesy in working with employees, students, and the public.
- Good organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines and attend to details.
- Good written communication skills.
- Excellent computer software skills – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access), email and electronic calendar, and excellent keyboarding skills.
- Knowledge of Internet navigation and social media.
- Disciplined and able to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- More than two years of experience in a comparable position.
