SUMMARY OF POSITION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will work with the Public Affairs department to assist in maintaining and improving the college’s website. This position offers hands-on experience in web content management, digital quality assurance, and search engine optimization (SEO). The intern will work closely with the Digital Content Coordinator to ensure web content is accurate, accessible, and optimized for user experience.
Position Description & Details
- Assist the Digital Content Coordinator in processing and implementing web edit requests from various departments.
- Research and resolve 404 errors to maintain website quality and functionality.
- Identify and correct spelling errors to support website quality assurance scores.
- Maintain and update metadata, tags, and other SEO elements for improved search engine visibility.
- Ensure all web content adheres to AP Style, BSC content brand standards, accessibility guidelines, and SEO best practices.
- Assist the Public Affairs team with setting up for events.
- Maintains organization of universal office space.
- Maintains good public relations while working with faculty, staff and customers.
- Supports innovation, creativity and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc. in the department and as a whole for the college.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Current Bismarck State College student, enrolled in at least 6 credits.
- Willingness to learn Content Management Systems (CMS) such as WordPress.
- Willingness to learn with AP Style, accessibility and SEO best practices.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently and handle interruptions.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds (essential function).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with diverse personalities.

- Experience working in Content Management Systems.
