Summary:

The Senior Lease Analyst will be responsible for the analysis, management, and maintenance of lease agreements, contracts, and other land-related documentation to ensure compliance with legal obligations and company requirements. This position involves working closely with the Land team to manage an increasing portfolio of leases and related documents. 


Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Receive, log, and review lease packages and workflow items.
  • Analyze lease agreements, contracts, surface agreements, title opinions, and other related documentation.
  • Setup, and maintain leases, contracts and other legal documents in the land system of record to ensure critical obligations, provision, payment information, and acreage is captured accurately. 
  • Monitor lease expirations, renewals, and obligations to support operational decision-making.
  • Provide strategic analysis, recommendations, and guidance on complex lease-related matters. 
  • Act as a subject matter expert for internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of bonus, extension, rental, shut-in and minimum royalties. 
  • Ensure compliance with lease terms and company policies.
  • Prepare and review reports related to lease agreements, acreage reporting, and related legal documentation.  
  • Draft and maintain departmental process and procedures.
  • Train and mentor Jr. Analysts and contractors.
  • Assist in drafting correspondence and other written materials, as needed.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments, including Land, Legal, Operations and Finance, to support the smooth execution of lease-related processes and address any issues that arise.
  • Identify areas for improvement within lease management processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, data integrity, accuracy, and efficiency.

Education and Experience (required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Management, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in upstream oil and gas working on lease analysis, land administration, or similar.
  • Experience with Land and Accounting software. IFS BOLO experience is preferred .
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Strong understanding of lease terms, contractual obligations, and legal considerations in land and property agreements.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.


Education and Experience (preferred):

  • Certification from a recognized professional organization (e.g., AAPL – American Association of Professional Landmen).
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance frameworks governing land and lease agreements.
  • 7 years of experience in upstream oil and gas working on lease analysis, land administration, or similar


Other Requirements: 

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening
  • Ability to legally work in the US without sponsorship 


Compensation: 

Compensation amount for this role is targeted at $95,300-$152,300 annually in this location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amount listed above.

Location:

This position is in Denver, CO. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location. No relocation or travel assistance will be provided by the Company for this position. 


Work Environment:

This position operates in an office environment. This entails working inside in an office space wherein employee may be provided a public work station (cubicle) or private office. From time to time, the role will require field visits where exposure to extreme weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, dust, electrical charges and other unforeseen exposures may be encountered. 


Physical Demands:

In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position. 


Position Type and Working Hours:

This is a full-time position. Typical work hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. working Friday’s. Employee must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and to participate in occasional meetings, events, seminars, conferences, or other activities outside of typical work hours. Employees responsible for project operations are expected to monitor and, in some cases, respond to emails, calls, or texts outside of business hours.


Travel:

Occasional travel to work site locations may be expected. Overnight stays may be required from time to time for training, seminars, field visits, or visits to onsite locations.
