The Radio Frequency (RF) Technician supports the installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and related wireless communication equipment. The RF Technician works closely with RF Engineers and project teams to perform testing and optimization of RF systems. The RF Technician is also responsible for conducting site surveys, performing system integrations, and documenting all testing and maintenance activities.
Essential Duties
- Installation, integration, testing and commissioning of RF DAS systems and related components.
- Perform comprehensive testing of RF DAS systems, including FAT, FIT, LFAT, SFAT, SIT etc.
- Assist in the troubleshooting and optimization of DAS systems to meet project specifications and industry standards.
- Conduct system upgrades and modifications as required.
- Utilize RF testing tools such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and signal generators for testing.
- Collaborate with other RF technicians and engineers to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
- Conduct site surveys to assess RF signal coverage and identify optimal locations for DAS components.
- Inspect installation sites to verify compliance with design plans and safety regulations.
- Document all installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
- Prepare detailed reports on system performance, test results, and maintenance actions.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Travel as required by project needs.
- Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
Required Education and Experience
- Associate's Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three (3) years of verifiable, professional experience in the RF field working with distributed antenna systems, particularly in the installation, integration, commissioning and testing of DAS systems.
- Hands-on experience with RF testing tools and troubleshooting techniques.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read and understand RF design, wiring, and other technical drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of RF engineering principles, DAS and wireless communication systems.
- Proficiency with RF testing tools such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and signal generators.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with RF systems and equipment.
- Experience with the installation, maintenance, and optimization of DAS systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of DAS architecture, active/passive products and RF theory.
- Ability to communicate effectively and intelligently in person, via telephone, and in writing with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Ability to manage time and multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to deal effectively with others and establish working relationships among team members.
- Ability to identify and evaluate existing and potential problems and develop recommendations and courses of action to resolve the issues with the appropriate follow-up.
- Demonstrates responsibility, accountability, and commitment to established vision, mission and goals.
- Ability to thoroughly and accurately complete complex work, focusing on all critical areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- DAS integration and commissioning certifications.
- OSHA 30.
- Knowledge of operation and testing of distributed antenna type RF equipment and systems.
Physical Requirements
- Remaining in a stationary position, standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Moving heavy objects up to about 50 pounds, with potential overhead lifting.
- Must be able to wear appropriate safety equipment, such as safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, and hearing protection, as required.

Employee must:
- Pass a background check.
- Pass a drug and alcohol screening i.e. a negative result.
