Works to achieve the Foundation’s mission by creating a two-way dialogue between the BPF and external audiences through utilization of all modes of communications.
Responsibilities
Communication:
- Local & National support for press releases, interviews, and event PR support
- Lead all public relations activities in response to all media outlets, including press releases and media quotes.
- Write all BPF related BISSELL Intraclean posts and other internal communications
- Write and publish website, blog and email newsletter content with oversight and approvals necessary
- Maintain organization’s social media accounts including content creation and curation.
- Consistent engagement & commenting on social media accounts cross platforms.
- Support the Founder with her social media posts on public page
- Support the Founder with video and photographs during events when needed for website, blog and social media
- Be the BPF spokesperson for media and interviews when needed
- Work with the Founder on talking points for interviews
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with media personnel nationwide and community partners as needed
- Measure and report effectiveness of communication activities including email rates, social media engagement, media reports, etc.
- Confidentially handle sensitive information with the utmost of discretion
- Monitor and forward messages from the general BPF info email to the right person or department
- Assist with other external and internal communication, public relations, and social media duties as needed
- Assist with other duties as assigned or needed
- Coordinate with manager and marketing team to promote and publicize Blocktail and other Michigan events including but not limited to Fix the Future clinics, transports, etc.
- With support from manager, proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems
- Help conduct pre and post event evaluations and report on media reach outcomes
- Coordinate with events person as a liaison and PR representative for the junior board and assist with all Blocktail communications .

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or Public Relations
- 3 years of experience in Communications, Public Relations, or Social Media
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail
- Extremely organized
- Ability to prioritize among competing goals to execute on tight deadlines
- Articulate, polished and professional demeanor with strong work ethic, initiative and confidence
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience managing social media accounts cross platforms & management of content calendars.
- Experience with a PR tracking platform such as Meltwater, Cision, etc.
- Experience with email management platforms such as klaviyo, mailchimp, etc.
- Knowledge of fundraising communications techniques including but not limited to proposal writing, public relations and prospect research
