Overview
The Sr. Manufacturing Plant Manager oversees the Consumables Packaging Fill Lines, Mix teams, Warehouse, and Maintenance to ensure safety, quality, housekeeping & customer satisfaction. This role also directs Continuous Improvement activities related to Consumables Packing and leads training direction and program. In this key role he/she will lead the Consumables Packaging Fill Lines, Mix activities, Maintenance and Warehouse to ensure that BISSELL requirements are met with a result of successful Consumable product production. This person will safely manage the Consumables Packaging production team resources to ensure an efficient throughput of quality products. This person will be a critical link in technical and manufacturing communications both within BISSELL and with outside suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Be a Consumables Manufacturing leader for BISSELL – lead the production of products that bring market success to the business.
- Collaborate with Consumer Design, Marketing, Sales, Quality, Purchasing, Consumables Development, and Package Engineering to drive the development of new product designs and technologies that can be safely, reliably, and efficiently produced.
- Be an expert in systematic problem-solving and knowledge capture techniques for the Consumables Manufacturing area and teach these same techniques to others within the organization.
- Collects and analyzes large data sets to create meaningful continuous improvement action plans in the areas of safety, quality, run rates, changeover and set-up time improvements, and scrap reduction.
- Highly proficient in the use of Excel or other software. Able to create intricate spreadsheets to aid in the analysis of complex data.
- Prepare and present technical and business information as required to functions outside of Operations, including Management, on projects or issues that may affect business decisions.
- Collaborate with the Sr. Director, Operations of Consumables Development to:
- Act as a consultant to product development teams to ensure the successful implementation of new products and technologies.
- Support all Consumables Manufacturing projects, including direct involvement in resolving highly complex technical issues.
- Manage the overall departmental budget and control expenditures to keep within planned spending.
- Lead efforts within the broader organization on issues related to successfully incorporating new technologies into both internal production and external contract packaging production processes.
- Directs and controls day-to-day production in the Consumables Packaging, Mix, Maintenance and Warehouse activities.
- Lead the directing of Training and support team for training tracking, Skill Development System, Continuous Improvement and systems to support training.
- Drives safety protocols, adherence to safety requirements and aligns with EH&S on waste and environmental requirements and policies.
- Recommends policies and work practices, which maintain and improve our competitive position and profitability.
- Ensures adherence to all BISSELL policies, including but not limited to the Safety & Attendance Policies.
- Manages and sets the direction for the execution of manufacturing schedules, personnel requirements, quality control, and safety/environmental programs. Drives the creation and support for training programs to ensure that objectives are met.
- Ensures that Consumables Packaging, Mix production areas, Maintenance and Warehouse operations are supporting and obtaining objectives within the framework of the division's Customer Satisfaction Improvement Process, focusing on customer service and Associate involvement.
- Assesses, adapts, and builds recommendations for the overall production staffing and labor planning for short-term and long-term needs. Leads the coordination of labor allocation and planning, major maintenance projects, major capital projects, and human resource activities.
- Develop budgets in the areas of expenses, capital and labor for the Consumables Packaging, Mix, Maintenance and Warehouse areas.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining quality improvement systems.
- Responsible for SOP’s, good documentation, training, and accountability for expectations.
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective communication throughout the organization.
- Plans, supports, and directs the implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques in the Consumables Packaging and Mix production areas.
- Responsible for managing Production Manager, Supervisor in Consumables Packaging and Mix Hourly Associates, the Maintenance Manager and hourly associates and Warehouse Supervisor and hourly associates. May also provide oversight daily to other areas such as Scheduling, Purchasing, and Plastics and Engineering, etc. as needed.
- Responsible for developing, maintaining & enforcing housekeeping standards in the Consumables Packaging, Mix , Maintenance and Warehouse areas and shared standards with Plastics.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience/Education
- Degree minimum: Bachelor’s degree
- Specific concentration: Engineering or related Engineering field
- Experience level:
- 12 years in combined Product Development, Engineering, or Liquid Filling Manufacturing/Maintenance. Minimum of 7 years of direct manufacturing experience required.
- Is sought out by others for input because of vast experience/expertise related to Consumables products.
- Demonstrated understanding of Liquid filling fundamentals and technical project management.
- Supervisory/management experience.
Specialized Training/Education Preferred
- Demonstrated experience in designing highly innovative and environmentally sustainable packaging solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in working with international locations and suppliers to successfully transition projects from conception to execution.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in mentoring and supervision of technical staff.
