Overview
The Test Technician II- Electronics Integration and Testing is accountable to the Associate Director responsible for implementing electronics developmental and approval testing in the lab. The Test Technician II position will support the installation and utilization of new test equipment and procedures for testing of electronics, execute those procedures on new electronic products, and carry out established mechanical tests on those products as needed. This position will interact with various project team members to perform and interpret tests for products, systems, components (mechanical and electronic), software/firmware, or modifications. The Test Technician II must have a demonstrated understanding of the science behind test methods and be able to communicate intent and analysis of results competently. They must also have a developed ability to pre-emptively identify and resolve complex problem areas within product design, test methods, test plans, and laboratory processes. The Test Technician II will work closely with cross-functional teams to perform design validation and verification testing under a moderate level of direct supervision.

Responsibilities
This position is directly or indirectly responsible for the following pertaining to testing and development of electronic & electro-mechanical products and concepts:
- Conducts testing using test procedures of varying complexity in an accurate and timely manner.
- Develops detailed reports describing method of analysis, data collected, and results achieved. Makes recommendations based on observed results.
- Integrates electronic, electrical, mechanical and software principles in a testing environment.
- Stays objective in areas of conflicting departmental priority; able to maintain course given by direct line manager.
- Demonstrates practical knowledge in electronic, electrical and mechanical systems and uses it to collaborate on fixture design, test protocol development, product design recommendations, and data analysis.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and documentation/training of BISSELL test equipment, procedures and standards.
- Effectively uses experience and technical knowledge for delivering creative solutions to internal laboratory processes and projects.
- Attend design reviews as needed to answer test related questions.
- Participate in internal systematic problem-solving activities and give data rational input in external systematic problem-solving sessions.
- Investigates the feasibility of applying data acquisition and/or automation into manual test lab processes.
- Proactively evaluates and recommends changes to the Engineering Lab technical capabilities in response to the organization’s shifting needs.

- Degree minimum: AAS Electronic Engineering Technology or equivalent and demonstrated experience.
- Specific concentration: Electronics, Electrical, and/or Robotics
- Experience level: 3 years
- Labview/automation experience preferred
- Ability to interpret engineering design documents ie. schematics, drawings, software code.
- Experience testing electro-mechanical systems with electronic controls, including both embedded and application software.
- Electronic circuit and software troubleshooting experience. Soldering skills for board repair/modification.
- Experience with Electro-Magnetic Interference test equipment and procedures, as well as environmental test chamber operation and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to disassemble and properly reassemble consumer appliances.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask multiple job assignments.
- Proficiency in the use of standard laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, micrometers, calipers, leakage current, dielectric, and other test instrumentation and hand tools) as well as electronics specific test equipment (soldering station, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, environmental test chambers, and electro-magnetic interference immunity test equipment).
