What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Mission Designer position at Bit Reactor?
Who We're Looking For:
- Create blockout levels using Unreal Engine 5 that serve both as proposals for spaces and encounter testbed.
- Author mission and objective logic in encounters to make the level's end-to-end experience flow properly with the rest of the game.
- Serve as product owner for a playable space, helping to connect disciplines and ensure the level's stability and quality.
- Collaborate with environment art to take a space from blockout to final art.
- Collaborate with engineering to standup new objectives and scripted events, identify issues, and work with stakeholders to get them working.
- Collaborate with combat design to implement new enemy types, integrate them into existing spawn groups, and tune the difficulty of encounters.
- Playtest other designers' levels, offer critical feedback, and advocate for the best version of the game.
- Own documentation of new features or suites of content as needs emerge.
- 5 years of experience in the game industry as a level designer or mission designer
- Experience working in the tactics space
- Experience working in Unreal 5 and Blueprints
- Experience with combat encounter composition, combat enemy roles, and how to leverage enemy behavior
- Understanding of level design practices, techniques, and space composition
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Shipped titles or other experience in the tactical genre
- Shipped titles or other experience using Unreal 5
- Shipped titles or other experience working in the Star Wars universe
Bit Reactor prefers to hire candidates who are willing to relocate to Hunt Valley, Maryland, but is open to remote options.
