BITCO Corporation is currently seeking Claims Trainees to join our Home Office team in Davenport, IA during the following timeframes : January 2025 or June 2025 . With 11 branch offices in 10 states, BITCO provides quality insurance services to special industries including construction, energy, and forest products.
Position Summary :
The Claims trainee role begins with six months of extensive training at our corporate facility in Davenport, IA. Throughout training, the trainee will gain valuable knowledge of the commercial insurance industry, claims processes, and develop soft skills through our specialized training program, BITCO-U. Following successful completion of training, the position will continue with on-the-job experience at one of our branch office locations.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Through telephone or correspondence, performs the routine investigation and resolution of less complex, more routine claims
- Assists with reviewing claim coverage, liability, and damage issues
- Takes recorded statements by telephone or in person
- Handles routine negotiations and factual situations
- Understands and applies applicable state law cases and statutes regarding liability risks, insurance issues, and tort and contract law principals
- Completes company reports for claims files
- Takes releases, proofs of loss and authorizes issuance of settlement funds
- Participates in departmental projects
- Completes necessary course study(ies) relating to insurance coverage and / or claims
- Gains knowledge of other company departments through contact with such other departments
- Develops and maintains good working relations with customers and co-workers
- Other duties as assigned
