The Role

Swan is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead our investment strategy and corporate advisory business. This executive will be responsible for managing capital allocation, optimizing portfolio performance, advising on Bitcoin Treasury and Leveraged Bitcoin Equity (LBE) strategies, and driving investment innovation. The CIO will also play a key role in designing, launching, and managing joint ventures, leveraging deep institutional relationships to bring new market opportunities for Swan and its clients.

Your responsibilities

  • Explore and implement novel Bitcoin-based financial structures that align with corporate and institutional demand
  • Develop frameworks for engaging traditional financial institutions with Bitcoin-based investment vehicles
  • Lead partnerships with institutions and corporate treasury clients looking to adopt Bitcoin as a strategic asset
  • Establish and deepen relationships with institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, and corporate treasuries to scale Bitcoin investment adoption and fund formation efforts
  • Collaborate with joint venture partners to co-manage investment opportunities and drive long-term value
  • Develop and execute the firm’s investment strategy, asset allocation, and risk management framework
  • Lead due diligence, research, and execution of new investment strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Navigate regulatory landscapes and oversee portfolio performance, ensuring compliance while optimizing investment structures and maintaining strong risk controls
  • Collaborate with Swan leadership and colleagues across departments to advise on strategy and execution of Swan’s business objectives
  • Build and manage a high-performing investment team to scale Swan's investment capabilities and institutional engagement

Skills and experience that will help you succeed

  • 15 years of investment leadership, with significant Wall Street experience in asset management, hedge funds, investment banking, or private equity
  • Proven track record of collaboration across institutional and corporate partners
  • Expertise in portfolio management, capital markets, and financial risk assessment
  • Deeply committed, both personally and professionally, to educating and onboarding corporate treasuries and traditional financial institutions into Bitcoin as a strategic asset
  • Can eloquently explain the many differences between Bitcoin and crypto
  • Prior experience working within the Bitcoin industry preferred, but not required
  • This role is remote, ideally based in the New York City area
  • Compensation for this role will be based on location and experience, and may include base salary, bonus, equity, and benefits
