Certified Lactation Consultant (120224.7) PRN

Certified Lactation Consultant  opportunity in beautiful Hamilton, Montana!! Bitterroot Health is seeking candidates to fill a Certified Lactation Consultant position in our Birthing Center.   The certified Lactation Consultant (CLC or IBCLC) is an expert in the management of the breastfeeding mother-baby dyad. This position will be responsible for providing professional lactation support and consultation for inpatient, outpatient and employee services. Duties will include participation in the development of the lactation program for MDMH providing ongoing education programs for physicians, nursing staff, women and their families. As a consultant, s/he works collaboratively with the OB Department, Newborn care nursery, Pediatrics, Family Practice, and nursing care teams to develop feeding plans for a range of infants from the normal newborn to the complex neonate. S/he makes clinical assessments, and uses current lactation theories and research to develop evidence-based feeding plans that address individual feeding issues while respecting the physician’s and family's breastfeeding goals. Minimum Qualifications:   Education/experience: High School diploma or equivalent; 1 year experience preferred as an RN or CLC or IBCLC Licensure: Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC); BLS required Job knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of breastfeeding process, antepartum, intrapartum and post-partum health care and psychosocial issues. Highly specialized skills and abilities regarding; assessment, intervention based on patient history and assessment, initiation and modification of complex situations and related therapies and interventions.  Excellent communication and the ability to react swiftly and appropriately in emergency situations.
