What We're Looking For

We are looking for a full-time Clinical Director who is passionate about the education and training of pre-licensed clinicians. The ideal candidate will be motivated and interested in building professional experience in private practice, professional development, and training. Prior work experience as a therapist in a private practice is required. Experience as a Clinical Director or two years of supervising counselors and therapists is also required.

The Clinical Director's day-to-day tasks include providing clinical supervision, leading and managing a team of therapists, and overseeing elements of therapists’ experience that impact their role and ability to be successful in their role. The Clinical Director also contributes to the growth of the practice through strategic planning and business development.

Bittersweet Encounters is a mental health group practice based in Rancho Cucamonga, California, dedicated to providing holistic mental and behavioral health services to underserved populations. Our practice offers a wide range of mental health services, including therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges. We also specialize in domestic violence counseling, anger management, parenting classes, and self-esteem-building programs. Our unique approach integrates behavioral health with community support, addressing our clients' broader social and emotional needs. We are passionate about removing the stigmas of mental health and making an impact.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

1. Clinical Leadership :

  • In collaboration with the Practice Founder, provide clinical leadership and supervision to a team of therapists to provide clinical services.
  • Recruit, train, and provide ongoing clinical and job supervision for therapists.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment that promotes professional growth and development.
  • Ensure that clinical services align with ethical and best practice standards.

2. Clinical Supervision :

  • Conduct weekly individual clinical supervision sessions and collaborate with the Practice Founder to deliver group clinical supervision sessions with staff to monitor and enhance their clinical skills.
  • Support and guide therapists in case conceptualization, treatment planning, and intervention strategies.
  • Assist in the resolution of complex clinical cases.
  • 3. Quality Assurance :

  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all required paperwork and documentation.
  • Establish and consistently uphold rigorous quality assurance protocols within the mental health care framework to guarantee the delivery of the highest standard of therapeutic interventions and patient support.
  • Monitor and evaluate clinical outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure the clinical team’s compliance with HIPAA and / or other local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • 4. Professional Development :

  • Facilitate professional development opportunities for staff, including workshops, training sessions, and continuing education.
  • Collaborate with the Practice Founder in coordinating and providing group supervision / advanced clinical training for therapists.
  • Collaborate with staff to establish and achieve professional goals.
  • To increase knowledge and awareness, provide presentations / talks on various clinical topics to internal and external groups.
  • 5. Collaboration and Networking :

  • Foster positive relationships with external referral sources, community organizations, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Represent the practice at relevant community events and professional conferences.
  • Actively participate in team-building activities and foster a positive and inclusive team culture by engaging in open communication and sharing insights and ideas to enhance the overall team dynamic.
  • 6. Strategic Planning :

  • Collaborate with the Practice Founder and contribute to developing and implementing strategic initiatives to drive the practice's growth and success.
  • Provide input on the development of new programs and services.
  • Review program needs and track / monitor service implementation to assist leadership in ensuring high-quality, effective, compliant, patient-centered service delivery aligned with the organization’s mission.
  • Qualifications & Requirements :

  • Current, active license in California as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
  • Must have a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Mental Health, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a similar discipline with related coursework in clinical issues as defined by the DSM-V.
  • Must have 5 years of work experience as a therapist.
  • Two or more years of experience supervising personnel.
  • Must have completed an approved supervision training.
  • Must demonstrate willingness and ability to adhere to all standards of practice outlined by the APA, California State Licensing Boards, and other professionally relevant psychological bodies under the direction of the supervising clinician.

  • Be organized and detail-oriented.
  • Be a team player.
  • Be able to work independently on tasks assigned.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially using Word, Excel, and customized electronic health record databases and telehealth systems.
  • Employment contingent upon clear fingerprint and criminal history record and background check.
