Position Summary: The Data Specialist will play a key role in supporting our materials manager. They will be responsible for gathering, organizing, and ensuring the accuracy of data within our organization. They will work with databases, perform data cleanup, and ensure that data is properly stored, structured, and accessible for business and analytical needs. The focus will be within our materials department but will also overlap and support other areas of the company. The right person for this role will be self-driven, enjoy variety, be creative, tech savvy and enjoy working in a challenging and fun work environment.
Work Location: Mendota Heights, MN (Main Office)
Work Schedule: Year-Round, Full Time
Requirements: All candidates are required to pass a thorough Background Check, Physical and Drug Test. References will also be checked.
Job Duties:
- Be the main support to our materials manager when it comes to data, reporting, troubleshooting, and even problem-solving.
- Organize and maintain material records.
- Assign revenue to internal and external material transactions.
- Track material purchases, transfers & inventory.
- Collect, input, and maintain structured and unstructured data in a variety of different databases and / or software (both data entry and manipulation).
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity through validation and quality checks.
- Perform data cleaning, transformation, and migration processes.
- Extract and manipulate datasets for reporting and analysis.
- Work with IT, managers, and business teams to ensure data is accessible and usable.
- Troubleshoot data-related issues and ensure compliance with data security standards.
- Create and update documentation on data processes and workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, finance, operations, etc.) to drive data-driven strategies.
- Perform testing and statistical analysis to optimize business performance.
- Communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear, actionable manner.
- Assist with other special projects or implementations, as needed.
- Assist with answering phone calls throughout the day.
Competencies & Expectations:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related field (highly preferred)
- Technical Skills:
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Familiarity with other Microsoft Programs (SharePoint, TEAMS, Outlook, etc.)
- Proficiency in SQL for database management and queries (a plus).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work with large data sets and maintain data accuracy.
- Effective communication and collaboration with technical and non-technical teams.

- Paid Time-Off
- Paid Time Off covers all time away from work - sick time, vacation time, bereavement, medical appointments, and any other personal use of time.
- PTO is to be taken in the following increments:
- half day increments for salaried employees
- hourly increments for hourly employees
- PTO not approved until direct Supervisor signs off on it.
- No Overtime will be paid if PTO is used during the same week/pay period.
- PTO balances will print out on your pay-stub each week.
- PTO requests may be denied for any business reason.
- Unpaid time taken by employees to be at the discretion of the Supervisor.
- Overtime is to be pre-approved by your direct supervisor.
