What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Parts Lead position at Bituminous Roadways, Inc.?
Position Summary: The Shop Parts Lead is a collaborative and support-driven role that is to wear multiple hats to ensure that the shop continues to run smoothly and effectively. This role will order and coordinate all parts for our shop and equipment. Overall, this role assists in a way that allows the Shop Foremen to be on the floor actively mentoring and supervising the mechanics.
Job Duties
- Order all parts needed for our shop and equipment.
- Conduct price checking, then dispense all parts, and notify foremen and mechanics, acting as the main point of contact for parts.
- Manage and maintain parts room and inventory.
- Communicate in a clear and timely fashion.
- Conduct service aging report on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
- Assist with preventative maintenance scheduling and be sure to check hours/mileage on equipment to ensure legitimacy.
- Ensure oil samples are entered daily.
- Monitor and manage the barrel oil stock.
- Maintain a clear fire path in the oil room and uphold BR safety policies and standards.
- Work with parts vendors and make sure all warranty parts are reimbursed, and all cores and returns are done.
- Assist Shop Foremen in the following capacity:
- Scheduling services for equipment and trucks.
- Help maintain the phone throughout the day.
- Shop organization, as instructed or agreed upon by team.
- Research equipment to build knowledge and understanding as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, dealers, and coworkers.
- Be a resource and team player with all field Superintendents and Foremen.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
IDEAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Parts experience required.
- 3 years' industry experience preferred.
- Computer skills are required.
