What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Foreman position at Bituminous Roadways, Inc.?
Position Summary: The Utility Foreman position is a vital role within our organization. This position must set an example for crew members by displaying our core values and managing profitable work consistent with the company’s risk tolerance and objectives. They work collaboratively with estimators, utility superintendents and employees to ensure proper coordination and performance. This position must be proactive in company’s safety and customer retention as well. The Utility Foreman will oversee Utility crew members.
Work Schedule: Seasonal. A typical season is about 35-40 weeks, ending around Thanksgiving. Unemployment is available during layoffs. Benefits are available and are carried through layoff as well.
Work Location: Our main office is in Mendota Heights and jobs are located all over the twin cities metro area.
Job Duties & Requirements:

- Communicate with estimators and customers to create a schedule.
- Ensure safety of crew and the public (tool box talks).
- Attend pre-con meetings and take notes.
- Inform employees of days’ work and expectations.
- Maintaining and submitting required reporting
- Setting up safety signage, cones and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic
- Other Duties as assigned
- Mentor and train in employees.
- Create a safe work environment and lead by example.
- Ensure jobs are clean daily.
- Provide crews with what they need.
- Be a positive influence on others within the organization.
- Communicate changes as they happen.
- Give clear direction.
- Maintain accurate and detailed field reports.
- Help manage customer expectations.
- Adhere to all BR safety policies and ensure employees are doing the same.
- Wear and monitor employees for PPE use and discuss issues with anyone not complying.
- Check field logs to make sure field reporting must-haves are on report before approving.
Other Requirements:
All candidates are required to pass a thorough Background Check, Physical and Drug Test. References will also be checked.
