Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Exchange Messaging Engineer to provide proactive engineering support, architectural guidance, and incident prevention for enterprise customers leveraging Microsoft Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange environments.
As part of our Enhanced Designated Engineering (EDE) offering, you will work closely with customers to ensure secure, resilient, and optimized messaging infrastructure, providing deep technical expertise in Exchange, mail security, compliance, and hybrid cloud messaging solutions. This role is not just about resolving issues-it's about proactively identifying potential risks, optimizing configurations, and helping customers adopt best practices for email security, high availability, and governance.
As a trusted advisor, you will support enterprise customers in migrating, securing, and maintaining their messaging infrastructure while also providing feedback to Microsoft's Exchange product teams to help improve features and capabilities.
This is a remote-friendly position with flexibility to work from home.
Responsibilities Proactive Messaging Infrastructure Engineering & Optimization- Guide customers in architecting, deploying, and maintaining Exchange Online, Exchange Hybrid, and on-premises Exchange environments.
- Optimize email flow, transport rules, and message routing to ensure high availability and seamless user experience.
- Assist in Exchange migrations, tenant-to-tenant migrations, and hybrid Exchange deployments using Microsoft migration tools and best practices.
- Ensure email security, compliance, and governance by implementing Microsoft Defender for Office 365, anti-phishing, and data loss prevention (DLP) policies.
- Improve performance, scalability, and disaster recovery for enterprise messaging environments.
- Conduct proactive health assessments, security audits, and configuration reviews for Exchange environments.
- Implement Zero Trust security principles, including email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and access controls.
- Optimize email protection strategies, including anti-spam, anti-malware, and advanced threat protection policies.
- Automate email monitoring, logging, and alerting using Exchange Online PowerShell, Microsoft Sentinel, and Defender XDR.
- Act as a designated messaging expert, providing tailored guidance on email security, governance, and operational best practices.
- Lead technical workshops, training sessions, and migration planning discussions with customers.
- Collaborate with IT administrators, security teams, and compliance officers to align messaging solutions with regulatory requirements.
- Provide best practices on retention policies, eDiscovery, and audit logging for legal and compliance teams.
- Work closely with Microsoft's Exchange product engineering teams to provide customer-driven feedback for product enhancements.
- Participate in early-access preview programs and testing of new Exchange and email security features.
- Contribute to internal best practices, case studies, and knowledge-sharing within the engineering community.
- 3 years of experience in messaging administration, Exchange engineering, or email security
- 8 years working with MS Technologies
- English: B2 or higher
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical end users
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Exchange Online, Exchange Hybrid, and on-premises Exchange Server (2016/2019)
- Strong expertise in email security and compliance using Microsoft Defender for Office 365, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, and mail flow security policies
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for Exchange administration, automation, and reporting
- Knowledge of Exchange migrations, including cutover, staged, and hybrid migrations
- Familiarity with eDiscovery, compliance policies, and retention strategies within Microsoft Purview
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for email delivery, performance, and security incidents
- Ability to learn fast
- Microsoft Certifications (e.g., MS-203: Microsoft 365 Messaging, SC-200: Microsoft Security Operations Analyst, SC-400: Microsoft Information Protection Administrator)
- Industry security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, GIAC GSEC)
- Experience with Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM), Defender XDR, and SOAR solutions for email security automation
- Knowledge of third-party email security solutions (e.g., Proofpoint, Mimecast, Barracuda)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive integrations with Exchange
