Role Purpose
In accordance with the Mission and Vision of Goldffarb School of Nursing the Assistant Dean performs various functions in support of the School and the College as assigned by the Dean. The Assistant Dean will support the academic affairs team with achieving student learning outcomes by providing quality educational experiences in accordance with the mission core values and purposes of the college. Responsible for managing directors of the undergraduate program and recommending best practices for faculty to the dean.This role bears the responsibility for overseeing faculty-led undergraduate curriculum development and execution, faculty scheduling and course planning, and advancing the use of sound pedagogical methods.Serves as ex-officio members on assigned faculty committees.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct supervision to a core group of directors assigned to each undergraduate division, collaborating to identify faculty skills and abilities required for successful program/curricular administration. Facilitates faculty orientation and ensures ongoing development.
- Prepares outcome measurement data used to demonstrate program effectiveness and to foster nursing program improvement initiatives to stakeholders, such as Advisory Boards, university and programmatic accreditors.
- Recruits, hires and on boards new nursing faculty to ensure academic and regulatory standards are met or exceeded and student education/learning outcomes are optimally achieved.
- Supports the dean in the School’s program evaluation plan and engages in and monitors performance improvement and documentation; ensures that metrics for analysis are set, change/improvement opportunities are advanced, and that resource allocation for evaluation studies are supported.
- Develops, mentors, and coaches faculty in pedagogy, professional development, and student management issues.
- Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
- Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
