Clinical Nurse Vascular Access PRN

Vascular Access Service (IV Therapy) job: Collaborates with the healthcare team to assess and provide needed vascular access by placing Difficult Peripheral IV’s, PICC lines, extended dwell catheters, Midline Catheters, and accessing Implanted Venous Access Devices. Educates and assists nursing staff on techniques to use to place peripheral IVs, how to care for central venous catheters, and troubleshooting when questions arise about IV care and/or peripheral IVs/central venous catheters.

• Nights 7 PM to 7:30 am 
• 2 shifts required in a 6 week schedule- may include weekends and holidays as needed.

Department consist of specialty trained RN's , over 50% certified in the specialty, who place IV catheters into the central vascular of the body, the heart, via ultrasound technology, in a minimally invasive procedure. Nurses are also skilled at difficult peripheral IV placement, implanted venous port access, care and maintenance and Intraosseous needle placement. Staff are also involved in teaching nurses, MD's and others. There is participation and ownership in the Vascular Access Policy and Procedures for the Hospital. They also participate in choosing products needed for our use. Department is open 24/7, 365 days a year.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.
