What are the responsibilities and job description for the Men's Residence Hall Supervisor position at BJU, Inc.?
POSITION SUMMARY: Oversee a residence hall and its staff and promote the care and wellbeing of its residents.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement the president’s semester emphases by training and coaching residence hall group leaders
- Apply biblical principles as emphasized in the student covenant through relational discipleship
- Administer university policies and procedures
- Organize residence hall events—fundraisers, extracurricular activities, etc.
- Counsel, advise and mediate conflicts among residents
- Handle parental concerns regarding residents
- Oversee maintenance of the residence hall facilities
- Oversee residence hall mentors and assistants
- Assist the dean in the selection of residence hall student leaders
- Act as liaison to all levels of the organization in matters relating to residents and residence hall life.
- Communicate the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates
- Answer questions concerning faith, doctrine and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU
- Meet frequently with the dean of men
- Meet weekly with all GLs
- Function as a receptionist in the Student Development & Discipleship office
- On call to handle any student life issues Monday through Sunday on a rotating schedule
- Responsible for all student discipleship initiatives in the residene hall
- Responsible for end-of-year cleanup of residence halls
- (Summer supervisor) responsible for inspecting graduate assistant residences before they leave
- Above all, be an example of the believer in word, thought and action. The resident supervisor sets the tone for the residence hall, carefully shepherding, overseeing and pastoring the residence hall students using the leadership structure that is in place. The resident supervisor is to keep his or her walk close to the Lord in order to minister in the power of the Holy Spirit and see lasting change take place in the lives of the students in the residence hall.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Spiritual maturity and willingness to confront
- Demonstrated ability to give godly counsel
- Professional in appearance and presentation
- Demonstrated ability to organize, supervise, and lead
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written
- Familiarity with BJU residence hall structure
