What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Project Engineer (Southern California) position at Blach Construction?
Reports to: Project Manager
Summary of Position: Having mastered the Project Engineer role and demonstrated leadership qualities, the Senior Project Engineer possesses the foresight to carry out the responsibilities of a Project Engineer with minimal supervision. This position requires managing interactions with the client and architect, delegating required tasks and processes, and managing the Project Team as directed by the Project Manager or Project Executive. In addition, this position requires collaboration with the Project Team to plan and coordinate the successful execution of project documentation, ensure quality of deliverables, and that the schedule and cost expectations of the project are achieved. As is generally expected of all Blach employees, the Senior Project Engineer will work under the guidance of Blach’s Core Values, provide excellent customer service to all parties involved in the successful execution of Company projects, and ensure Company jobsite safety requirements are met.
Typical Duties:
Project Preparation and Set-up
- Collaborate with Project Manager/Executive to facilitate a timely design process and assist in coordination between the architect and
- Possess a strong knowledge of the project drawings and specifications for the project/s you are working
- Collaborate with Project Team in the bidding process, from soliciting potential bidders through award and execution of Subcontract
- Collaborate with Project Team to ensure all appropriate permitting, inspections, and agency review requirements are met.
- Collaborate with Project Team to ensure the administrative tasks of project record keeping & reporting, mobilization, appropriate insurances and bonds are in place, and safety measures are implemented as
Project Construction
- Collaborate with Project Team to organize and lead project meetings, delegate responsibilities and set expectations for team members, facilitate ongoing communications with the client, architect, subcontractors, and other applicable
- Collaborate with Project Team to ensure that appropriate insurances, bonds, and contract documentation have been
- Collaborate with Project Team to facilitate the timely processing of Blach and Subcontractor requests for payment, changes orders and vendor invoicing to ensure cash flow expectations. Prepare cost reports for financial analysis and
- Coordinate the review, processing, and archiving of RFIs, Submittals, Meeting Minutes, Work in Progress Photos and other project documentation for
- Collaborate with Project Manager/Executive and Superintendent in the development of the project schedule, work with the project Field Team to resolve issues and address schedule concerns. Walk the site regularly and work with the project Superintendent to familiarize yourself with the coordination and progress of the
Project Close-Out
- Collaborate with Project Team to ensure collection of appropriate documentation for turn-over to the Client and secure necessary agency sign off and
- Coordinate meetings with the appropriate owner representative to train on all new system installs, as necessary, and conduct post completion follow up with Client to ensure space is performing
- Coordinate project
Skills/Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related degree
· Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office)
· Strong working knowledge of project management software specific to commercial construction (i.e. CMiC, Bluebeam, etc.)
· Understanding of financial reports and cost forecasting
· Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
· Extreme attention to detail, highly organized
· Proactive, takes initiative, possesses a willingness to learn and develop in their professional career
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Problem solver, solutions-oriented, creative
Position Status: Full-time, regular business hours, exempt
