Our flagship office is in Sydney, Australia, but we've made our way from down under to our brand new office in San Francisco, which is now home to our US operations. This role can be based in either location. We trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.
What you'd be doing in this role
As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. This role is focused on :
- Being a Senior Legal Counsel with the Product and Privacy team, taking the lead on product counselling for our GenAI Supergroup and AI projects in our Design Experience group.
- Supporting our AI governance initiatives, working closely with an AI governance focused lawyer on training and resources to empower our AI teams.
- Delivering impactful goals, removing blockers for the business, and facilitating escalations to leadership of key risks.
- Supporting Canva's mission to become the most trusted platform while balancing growth goals and risk appetite.
- Providing regular training, FAQs, cheat sheets, and guardrails for AI product and engineering teams.
- Monitoring and reporting on the AI landscape - both regulatory and industry practices.
- Contributing to the product, AI, and privacy risk registers.
- Being the eyes and ears for the Product and Privacy team in San Francisco, spotting legal risks and supporting the team.

The salary range for this position is $218,000 to $334,000, based on market data and candidates' skills and experience.
