Position Summary:
As a Teachers Assistant (TA) for the EBAN LIT! course, you will work closely with the course instructors to support and enhance the learning experience for students. This role is an excellent opportunity for program graduates to further engage with the curriculum and develop educational facilitation skills. The TA role involves a commitment to supporting classroom instruction, conducting office hours, and assisting with course preparation.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend the Train the TA Course:
- Complete an 8-week training program designed to equip TAs with the skills to assist instructors in the EBAN LIT! course.
- Participate in sessions covering a curriculum overview, course preparation, and classroom observation.
- Attend weekly office hours to support students and instructors.
- Assist with Classroom Management:
- Shadow instructors during the 6-week EBAN LIT! course, observing and learning classroom dynamics.
- Help manage in-class discussions and activities focused on Black history and liberation themes.
- Serve as a representative of BCZ to ensure excellence of program implementation
- Facilitate the completion of sign-in sheets during each class
- Provide Support to Students:
- Conduct weekly office hours to assist students with course materials, answer questions, and facilitate their understanding of key topics.
- Participate in Curriculum Development:
- Collaborate with instructors in a curriculum update session to offer feedback and insights based on classroom observations and student engagement.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to maintain strong community and organizational relationships.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Completion of the EBAN LIT! program or equivalent experience in Black history, liberation studies, or related fields.
- A passion for Black liberation history and a commitment to promoting justice and equity.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Availability to commit to the full 6-week course and 8-week training program.
- Documentation management and ability to use project management tools.
- Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Word processing, spreadsheet, email, and project management software familiarity and basic skills
Physical Demands:
Essential functions of the position require the employee to use a telephone, work at a standard computer terminal and be able to follow reasonable ergonomic recommendations, sit for long periods of time, repetitive motions, stand, reach, lift and carry 20 pounds, and bend
