Summary:

Black Diamond Coatings (BDC) is seeking a highly organized and experienced Shipping Supervisor to oversee all shipping operations, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of our products to customers and retail partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of shipping procedures, logistics, and warehouse management. This role is crucial to our continued growth and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Shipping Operations Management:

• Oversee all aspects of the shipping process, from order fulfillment to shipment tracking and delivery confirmation.

• Manage the entire receiving process, encompassing vendor communication, shipment verification, inspection, documentation, inventory receiving, and put-away, while establishing and maintaining comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

• Ensure accurate and timely processing of orders, including picking, packing, and labeling.

• Select appropriate shipping methods and carriers based on cost, delivery time, and product requirements.

• Negotiate rates and contracts with shipping carriers to optimize shipping costs.

• Prepare shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, and customs forms (if applicable).

• Manage shipping schedules and coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure efficient loading and unloading of trucks.

• Monitor shipping performance and identify areas for improvement in efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Inventory Control and Warehouse Coordination:

• Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure accurate inventory levels and efficient order fulfillment.

• Experience with 5S and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Maintain accurate shipping records and track inventory movement.

• Implement and maintain inventory control procedures to minimize discrepancies and losses.

• Participate in regular inventory counts and audits.

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and safety procedures.

• Maintain a safe and organized shipping area.

• Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.

• Stay up-to-date on changes in shipping regulations and industry best practices.

Team Leadership and Communication:

• Supervise and train shipping staff, providing guidance and support as needed.

• Schedule and manage shipping staff to ensure adequate coverage.

• Communicate effectively with internal teams (sales, customer service, warehouse) and external partners (carriers, customers).

• Resolve shipping issues and customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.

Amazon and Retail Shipping Considerations:

• Manage shipping requirements and compliance for Amazon fulfillment (FBA, FBM, Amazon Warehouse) and retail partners.

• Coordinate with Amazon and retail partners on shipping schedules, delivery requirements, and labeling standards.

• Ensure accurate and timely delivery of shipments to Amazon fulfillment centers and retail distribution centers.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher preferred.

• Proven experience in shipping and logistics, preferably in a supervisory role.

• Strong understanding of shipping procedures, regulations, and documentation.

• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and shipping software.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Experience with Amazon FBA and/or retail shipping is a plus.

Key Performance Indicators

• Review and prepare materials for shipping against weekly forecast

• Understand inbound packing slips for correct paperwork matching and proper inventory counts

• Responsible for maintaining 100% accurate outbound shipments, including proper shipping materials and correct product

• Notify Office Manager daily of any materials getting close to low limits

• Process returns daily

o Determine if product can be resold and communicate to Warehouse Manager

o Products that can be resold should be returned to proper storage location

o Products that cannot be resold should be handled following procedures

• Assist Warehouse Manager to develop best practice procedures and document order processing, preparation and shipping, and inbound and outbound shipping

Job Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High school or equivalent degree

• Possess a valid driver’s License and have reliable transportation

• Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently

• Strong leadership and management skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• Attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to work effectively under pressure

• Experience in shipping and logistics (preferred)

• Forklift operator certification (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
