BFDI is a CARF accredited, licensed, comprehensive human services organization committed to serving all persons, while specializing in evidence-based counseling, treatment, and advocacy for persons of color. Agency programming includes early childhood resources and literacy development, a 3-tiered juvenile justice service array, mental health prevention and treatment, substance use disorder prevention and treatment, boys and young men of color supportive resources, school-based intervention, and trauma-informed care. Black Family Development, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates with leadership experience and an RN License for a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Office Nurse Manager position at a new clinic. Our organization is seeking a Full-time Office Nurse Manager with the corresponding experience requirements:

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Office Nurse Manager, under the guidance of Black Family Development’s mission, vision, and values, manages the administrative and clinical activities of the CCBHC. General responsibilities include ensuring effective day-to-day operations, managing, and supervising clinic staff in the delivery of high-quality healthcare services, and collaborating with CCBHC leadership and staff to ensure all policies and procedures comply with federal, state, and local requirements of the CCBHC grant.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBLITIES:

· Assists with the completion of the assessment process for consumers including but not limited to medical/social/family history, medication list/reconciliation, height/weight and vital signs as applicable.

· Provides education regarding consumers condition(s) as needed.

· Provides medication education for consumers and family, including uses and potential side effects.

· Collaborates with team to address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of consumers and family.

· Communicates effectively with the healthcare team regarding consumer’s physical and mental condition(s)

· Administers medical and psychiatric screenings as needed.

· Performs ancillary testing and tasks as ordered or calls medical facility or department to schedule consumer for tests.

· Responds to consumers’ request for medication refills.

· Interfaces with the multi-disciplinary team and actively and cooperatively participates in development of the treatment plan.

· Monitors laboratory results and report all abnormal findings to the physician.

· Educates the community and consumers on health issues to increase health literacy.

· May conduct infection control for staff and consumers when indicated.

· Performs related duties as assigned.

ADMINISTRATIVE AND OTHER RELATED DUTIES

· Assists with development and implementation CCBHC office policies and procedures.

· Creates goals and objectives for the CCBHC and make sure they are met by the staff.

· Communicates with staff and department heads.

· Assists with development and implementation of reporting mechanisms.

· Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities.

· Generates inventory records.

· Works with vendors to order medical and office supplies.

· Arranges cleaning staff and emergency maintenance services as necessary.

· Reviews medical coding and billing

· Assists with meeting reporting requirements of SAMHSA grant.

· Accesses appropriate community resources according to consumer needs

· Maintains current State license and requirements for renewals (i.e., CEU’s), and attends required CCBHC in-services and workshops.

· Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.

· Assists with hiring and training of staff.

· Supervises office staff.

· Evaluates staff performance.

· Creates staff schedules for their work.

· Engages in problem-solving within the context of the role.

· Participates in on-going planning activities needed for the growth and development of the organization.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

· Knowledge of accounting, data and administrative processes and principles

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

· Foundational business and budgeting skills

· Basic knowledge of psychiatric disorders in the adult and/or youth populations

· Knowledge of medical terminology especially those terms associated with psychiatric care and/or substance abuse.

· Knowledge of behavior management and crisis intervention

· Understanding of behavioral, psychological, physical health and social effects of psychoactive drugs, including alcohol and tobacco on the consumer and their significant others

· Knowledge of trauma informed care principles

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in nursing, BSN, or other healthcare related bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university

· An active unrestricted Michigan registered nurse (R.N.) license

· At least two (2) years of nursing experience as a registered nurse within the last 5 years immediately preceding the application, including teaching in a health care-related field or a job that requires common direct practice nursing competencies, required.

· Three (3) years of management experience in a healthcare setting required.

· Experience in staff development and/or training and an understanding of psychiatric diagnoses, the behavioral health service system, integrated healthcare and service needs preferred.

· Experience with mental health/dual diagnosis, intellectual / developmental disabilities, community mental health experience is preferred.

· Understanding of evidence-based practices to address the prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery supports for mental health and substance use disorder conditions is preferred.

· Ability to represent the organization internally and externally to support agency business activities with the highest level of professionalism.

· Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

· Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc. that are necessary for providing quality care.

· Must have a kind, patient and empathetic personality as well as a commitment to providing patients with the best possible care.

· Able to work on multiple priority projects with strong execution.

· Team player with a strong work ethic and the willingness to help where and when it is needed.

· Up to date CPR and first aid certification

· Adheres to professional code of ethics. to detail.
