What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Maintenance Support Specialist position at BLACK GOLD FARMS?
Black Gold Farms is expanding its support staff by introducing a new member to the Operations Support Team as a Regional Maintenance Support Specialist. This position will support our operations in Delhi, LA; Arbyrd, MO; and Charleston, MO. Travel may be required to other areas as well. The person fulfilling this role must live in close proximity to one of these locations.
The Operations Support team is comprised of technical experts in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Logistics, and Efficiency. This position aligns with the team's mission and will contribute to our farming operations by facilitating the standardization, preparation, and maintenance of essential equipment within their specified regions of Black Gold Farm’s operation.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance Planning:
- Establish and maintain a Preventive maintenance program at all sites within the assigned region.
- Establish and maintain a parts inventory at all sites within the assigned region.
2. Supervision and Leadership:
- Provide leadership and direction to the equipment specialists within the assigned region.
- Oversee the organization and documentation of maintenance tasks.
3. Standardize electrical and control panels within the assigned region.
4. Assist farm locations with pre-season, on-site equipment maintenance.
5. Assist with PLC network control setup and troubleshooting.
6. Provide support and coordination for improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
7. Support farms with remote troubleshooting where applicable.
8. Be on call during peak seasons to help with breakdowns.
9. Provide farm managers and equipment specialists with budget recommendations for future repairs.
Required Skills and Capabilities:
Valid drivers license with clear driving record.
Computer skills:
- Maintenance and Asset Management software
- Part inventory management software
- Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to travel up to 50% during peak seasons.
Willingness to learn and implement Black Gold Farms’ equipment standardization practices.
Extensive industrial mechanical diagnostic and repair experience.
Electrical Systems:
- Proficiency and with high and low voltage applications.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures for electrical work.
- Ability to implement and enforce electrical safety practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair control components within electrical control systems.
PLC and Control Systems:
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation control systems.
- Ability to develop and modify control logic for industrial processes.
Motor Control:
- Expertise in motor control systems, including variable frequency drives (VFDs) and starters.
- Troubleshooting and optimizing motor performance.
Hydraulic Systems:
- Strong understanding of Fluid Dynamics(Flow, viscosity, etc.) for troubleshooting and repair.
- Proficiency in reading hydraulic schematics.
Collaboration, Communication and Project Management:
- Effective communication with cross-functional teams and location staff.
- Budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

This position would be located at or near one of our farm locations in Delhi, LA; Arbyrd, MO; or Charleston, MO. Relocation assistance is available. Ability to travel is required and would be about 40-50% overnight (during peak planting and harvest seasons).
