Substitute Special Education Paraprofessional

This position is part-time as needed and would serve both our Center and Phoenix schools. We are looking to grow our substitute paraprofessional list. Great for individuals who might be able to work certain days of the week, but not others (Example - Mondays and Wednesdays, but not Tuesday, Thursday or Friday). Hours are 8:00 am - 2:30 pm.

As a Special Education Paraprofessional, under the supervision of the head teacher, you will provide assistance to the classroom teacher, performing a variety of tasks relating to the physical and instructional needs of the students; assist with implementing instruction, including self-help as well as behavior management. As a paraprofessional, you will perform related duties as assigned or required.

• Assist teacher with lessons and daily classroom activities
• Provide individual academic support, under the direction of the teacher
• Assist teacher with goal and peak work for documentation of child’s skills, achievements and progress
• Supervise other situations, such as recess, field trip, bus, lunch, and free-time activities during the school day, as appropriate
• Care for the student’s emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities and striving to promote confidence and independence in their daily lives
• Carry good judgment when dealing with behaviors and problem solving
• Support the classroom teacher in providing physical care activities which may include feeding, assistance with toileting, diapering, prosthetics and other adaptive equipment. This may range from full assistance to simple monitoring.
• Support a safe, positive teaching and learning environment
• Support the development of physical, intellectual, social, emotional and behavioral needs
• Establish positive and productive relationships with teachers, students, families, and staff
• Practice ethical and professional standards of conduct on an ongoing basis
• Assists with other duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned

Other applicable job experience may include: Para Educator, Teacher's Aide, Teacher's Assistant, Substitute Teacher, Behavior Aide, Direct Support Professional (DSP).
