What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Worker/Work Study - Advising Advocate- Quad City Campus position at Black Hawk College?
· Facilitate navigation of the New Student Checklist and work collaboratively with Student Services staff to provide a seamless student experience.
· Create a supportive environment by providing guidance to fellow students about academic advising processes and available resources.
· Bring innovative ideas to organize events, orientations, and informational sessions that enhance understanding of advising services.
· Execute phone outreach campaigns.
· Attend all meetings and actively participate in training sessions.
· Stay informed and knowledgeable about advising practices and campus resources.
· Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for the Advising Center.
· Engage directly with prospective, new, continuing, and returning students while actively assessing student needs.
· Use software tools to access student information and schedule appointments, connecting students with their advisors and relevant resources.
· Adhere to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) by ensuring confidentiality and security of academic records and student information.
· Embrace additional responsibilities as assigned, contributing to a culture of advocacy and support for all students.
· Create a supportive environment by providing guidance to fellow students about academic advising processes and available resources.
· Take personal responsibility for maintaining a well-functioning, clean and inviting office environment.

Other skills/experience may be requested or specified by the department and/or hiring manager at BHC.The Federal Work Study Program provides jobs for students at Black Hawk College demonstrating financial need. Eligible students typically work between 6 - 12 hours per week.
In order to qualify for the Federal Work Study Program, you must:
* Receive Financial Aid
* Be approved for Work Study by Financial Aid and Human Resources
* Current BHC student enrolled in 6 or more credit hours per semester
* Cumulative 2.0 GPA (per the Academic Progress Policy www.bhc.edu/academic-progress)
BHC students who don't meet the above eligibility requirements, may be eligible for non-Work Study positions. These positions are subject to budget limitations/availability of funds and are not always available.
