What are the responsibilities and job description for the SEASONAL PARK MAINTENANCE WORKERS position at Black Hawk County (IA)?
Seasonal positions are temporary not expected to exceed 6 months. The temporary assignment typically occurs during the months of April - November of each year. Applicants will be contacted directly by the Hiring Manager if selected to receive an interview.
Under immediate supervision, performs unskilled tasks required in the maintenance of county parks and management areas.

- Must be capable of regular and predictable attendance at a specified location in order to perform assigned tasks.
- Assists in the performance of general maintenance work such as hauling garbage, cleaning toilets, cutting wood, building fences, roadwork, and other park maintenance.
- Performs janitorial duties in the shop and office.
- Washes and cleans vehicles.
- Operates tractors and trucks when necessary to carry out maintenance and development activities.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Iowa driver's license and be insurable under county guidelines.
- High School Diploma or GED desirable.
- Previous work experience preferred.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and maintain good public relations.
- Some knowledge in the operation of manual tools and equipment.
- Position requires frequent exposure to outdoor elements which may include heat, humidity, cold, rain, snow, live or dead animals, animal waste, odors, loud noises, filthy environments and insects.
- Must be able to walk on uneven or heavily wooded ground.
- Position requires frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; ability to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance.
