Position Title: Warehouse Manager
Reports To: Director of Production
Department: Production
Office Hours:
- Winter (November - March): 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Summer (April - October): 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Position Overview:
The Warehouse manager is responsible for managing the organization, tracking, and distribution of materials within the warehouse and yard areas. This role includes ensuring that job orders are fulfilled accurately, inventory is maintained to support operational needs, and materials are properly stored and returned. Additionally, they will oversee the management of yard maintenance activities and the unloading/loading of trucks to ensure efficient operations. This position plays a key role in maintaining the overall organization and cleanliness of warehouse spaces while ensuring that ERP systems are updated in real-time.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
- Oversee and manage stock levels, ensuring that inventory is accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
- Monitor and resolve any inventory discrepancies, working with relevant teams to identify causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain effective inventory tracking and data management systems to ensure accurate records at all times.
Warehouse Operations:
- Supervise and manage the daily operations of the warehouse, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping of goods.
- Ensure that all orders are fulfilled accurately and on time to meet customer and production requirements.
- Coordinate with shipping and receiving teams to guarantee the timely flow of goods in and out of the warehouse.
Safety Compliance:
- Enforce warehouse safety protocols, procedures, and best practices to minimize risks and ensure the safety of all warehouse staff.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, addressing any potential hazards and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and other relevant regulations.
Logistics Coordination:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as sales, transportation, and procurement to streamline logistics processes and ensure the accurate and efficient movement of goods.
- Optimize workflows to reduce delays, improve delivery timelines, and enhance the overall supply chain efficiency.
Warehouse Layout Optimization:
- Manage and optimize the warehouse layout to maximize storage capacity, improve workflow, and streamline the picking, packing, and shipping processes.
- Continuously evaluate and adjust the layout to improve operational efficiency and ensure a clean, organized environment.
Problem-Solving:
- Proactively identify and address any issues or bottlenecks that arise in warehouse operations, such as inventory discrepancies, shipping delays, or equipment malfunctions.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to develop effective solutions to resolve issues promptly and minimize disruptions.
Technology Utilization:
- Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other relevant software/tools to improve warehouse operations, track inventory, and ensure the accuracy of order fulfillment.
- Stay updated on the latest technological advancements in warehouse management and explore opportunities to implement new tools or systems to enhance efficiency.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all warehouse machinery, equipment, and tools are properly maintained and in good working condition to avoid any operational disruptions.
- Compliance and Security: Enforce company policies, rules, and regulations within the warehouse, ensuring all staff comply with safety standards, security protocols, and health regulations.
- Administration: Maintain accurate computerized records of inventory, orders, and shipments to ensure proper documentation and traceability.
- Yard Inventory Management: Oversee and manage the "yard" inventory (external storage areas), ensuring proper organization and accountability of items stored outside the warehouse.
