General Purpose: Independently completes commercial credit analysis and written presentations on the largest and most complex, commercial, and/or agricultural credit relationships. Analyze and prepare written presentations to recommend approval, denial or alternative structures and note any deviations from Loan Policy as appropriate (commercial lending analyst experience). Work with Commercial and/or Agricultural Loan Officers to discuss issues and ask questions with minimal guidance from the Credit Administration Manager.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Direct underwriting of existing and new credit exposures for Commercial, Participation, CUSO, and/or Agricultural opportunities.
- Spread and analyze financial reports including but not limited to year-end financial statements, personal financial statements, interim financial statements, accounts receivable and accounts payable from the loan officers, borrowers or borrowers’ accountants.
- Responsible for independently managing: spread workflow, underwriting workflow, and deadlines.
- Gather, consolidate, analyze and summarize data to provide well-considered recommendations for complex levels of commercial credit relationships.
- Identify and quantify risks, prepare written detailed analyses, and present these facts and offer opinions concerning credit-worthiness of borrowers.
- Confer with lenders and other business representatives to exchange and verify credit information and financial transactions.
- Participate in discussions with and/or calls to existing or potential members.
- Occasionally meets with members to review their business operations, discuss their financial statements and analyze their credit requirements.
- Act as control point in the loan approval process to ensure adherence to credit policies and loan covenants.
- Complete tasks as assigned by Credit Administration Manager including monitoring and testing financial covenants, assist with audits, examinations, stress testing and risk reviews.
- Provide training to other credit analysts as needed.
- Assist in supervising and monitoring workflow of other credit analysts.
- Assist with call report and other quarterly and monthly reporting.
- Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Other Duties/Responsibilities
- Keep current on business related compliance issues.
- Understand SBA/USDA underwriting requirements and documents.
- Assist lenders and loan support staff in loan closing activities.
- Keeps current on trends within the industry by attending seminars, workshops and reading industry periodicals.
- Attend and participate in various committee meetings.
- May assist Credit Administration Manager in conducting job interviews.
Job Knowledge
- Working knowledge of the credit union's products and services.
- Working knowledge of the credit union’s policies/procedures and credit union's service philosophy.
- Working knowledge of safety and security program for false alarms, robberies, bomb threats and extortion.
- Working knowledge of credit union's in-house computer system/Internet.
- Advanced knowledge of state and federal business lending regulations.
- Strong developed knowledge of credit and financial analysis techniques.

Job Qualifications (Education/Experience)
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- B.S/B.A in accounting, finance, or general business (or equivalent experience).
- 9 hours in accounting preferred.
- 12 hours in finance preferred.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
- 5 to 7 years of credit analysis experience in a financial institution or regulatory agency that includes analysis of complex credits and composing analytical reports.
- Ability to analyze credits based on tax returns.
- Formal credit training.
- Knowledge of collateral and credit documentation and borrowing entity structure.

The job calls for a high degree of mental concentration to interpret and act upon a wide range of situations. The job requires a degree of attention to detail.
