Job Description-
BHSSC is seeking an individual to join our team as the Director of our Disabilities Division. This full-time leadership position oversees our 150 individuals with intellectual disabilities in the Sturgis and Hot Springs area, as well as the Family Support 360 program in western South Dakota. Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (BHSSC) is a public entity that is an educational cooperative under the State of South Dakota. Essential Job Duties-
- Supervise the development of the Developmental Disabilities Program standard policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with performance standards and other various federal and state regulations.
- Prepare program budget annually. Administer the budget throughout the fiscal year.
- Assist in writing grants for the Developmental Disabilities Program.
- Ensure proper care and disposition of Black Hills Special Services Cooperative’s property assigned to the Program. Ensure all equipment, materials, and other property of Black Hills Special Services Cooperative is turned over to the Executive Director upon termination.
- Approve financial expenditures within the department program.
- Collaborate with school districts and community agencies. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with community agencies.
- Work in collaboration with the Executive Director on agency and program development.
- Report to the Executive Director information pertinent to the operation of the Program.
- Develop positive public relations in all avenues of the Program.
- Ability to commute and make on-site visits to facilities associated with the Developmental Disabilities Programs.
- Address community and civic groups to enlist their support.
- Interpret program and policies to individuals and community groups and to governmental agencies.
- Ensure that all programs are in compliance with mandates.
- Work with all individuals in the program to ensure that the needs of the individuals are met and that any concerns are addressed.
- Ensure the safety of staff and participants.
- Process purchasing requests for division.
Job Qualifications-
- Master’s Degree in human services, sociology, psychology or related field
- Leadership experience providing services to people with disabilities
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with budget management
