Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (BHSSC) is a public entity that is an educational cooperative under the State of South Dakota. BHSSC is comprised of five divisions dedicated to aiding school districts, individuals, and the communities. BHSSC is seeking outgoing individuals to join our team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). Salary-
$19 per hour; differential pay varies for eligible shifts ($3.00/hour for evenings, $4.00/hour for nights and weekends, and double time for BHSSC designated holidays)
Job Type-
Part-Time
BHSSC is a 24/7 program. DSP positions may involve working evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the individuals being supported.

Job Description-
DSPs work with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities to provide the support they need in daily life. Some duties include:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Administer medication as directed by healthcare professionals
- Assist with meal planning, preparation, and feeding, support individuals in participating in social and recreational activities, including accompanying individuals in the community and assisting with transportation needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for individuals.
Skills that a successful candidate will have include experience in senior care, assisted living, or special education instruction, ability to work with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities, challenging behaviors, and strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with individuals of all kinds. This position requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to providing high-quality care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when necessary. DSPs must also be able to adapt to changing situations and demonstrate patience, empathy, and understanding.
