The Lead-Deadwood CTE / Boxelder Job Corps Education Department is looking for a dedicated individual to join our student-centered learning environment as a High School ELA Teacher. We celebrate and support the diverse learning styles of every student, providing them with the opportunity to learn a vocational trade and complete their high school diploma or GED at no cost.
Boxelder Job Corps serves youth aged 16-24, offering a whole-person approach to education that supports the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical health of our students. We maintain a cooperative agreement with the Lead-Deadwood School District to provide enrolled students access to a state-accredited high school program through the Lead-Deadwood Career and Technical Campus, located in the Boxelder Job Corps Education Department. The individual selected for this position will be employed through Black Hills Special Services Cooperative and eligible to participate in the South Dakota Retirement System (SDRS).
Position Details:
- Wage: $29.28 - $35.14/hour, based on education and experience.
- Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
- Schedule: Year-round position observing federal holidays. Flexible option of working five 8-hour days a week or four 10-hour days a week.
- Location: Lead-Deadwood Career and Technical Campus hosted by Boxelder Job Corps in Nemo, SD
Duties and Responsibilities
- Through classroom instruction and guidance, the incumbent establishes a learning environment in which students can develop their ability to make rational and informed decisions relevant to their needs, as well as promote opportunities for students to develop rapport, interrelationships, self-discipline, and a positive self-image.
- Instructs students in the following areas: reading, language, writing, life skills, computer literacy, and human development. Responsible for planning courses of instruction in the assigned content area based on the development program and general curriculum guidelines in effect.
- Studies, plans, organizes, develops, and implements the assigned subjects independently, meeting state educational standards, and using the Job Corps manual and center operating procedures as a guide.
- Develops individual classroom operating procedures and specific directives for classroom maintenance in conjunction with Job Corps regulations.
- Implements plans using teaching methods and techniques appropriate for the skill level being taught, allowing for adaptations to permit individual differences in interests and ability and improve the quality of instruction.
Qualifications
- Valid teaching certificate in the State of South Dakota or anticipated licensure in the near future.
- Intermediate English Language Arts Endorsement - Required
- Secondary Composition/Grammar Endorsement - Preferred
- Secondary Speech/Debate Endorsement - Preferred
