Black Knight Security is seeking a full-time Payroll Specialist for our West End (Pittsburgh), PA office. We are a growing, veteran-run, security guard firm with a strong knowledge of the industry. In this position you will perform all payroll functions, work closely with HR to collaborate on administrative functions for Black Knight Security, and assist accounting in both general ledger and financial reporting activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Processing accurate payroll bi-weekly
- Post bi-weekly payroll into the general ledger
- Understanding and compliance with the 32BJ collective bargaining agreement and the company’s 401(k) Plan as they relate to employee eligibility and payroll deductions
- Entering all new hires and personnel changes into the payroll system timely and accurately, including all required withholdings and deductions
- Processing uniform reimbursements
- Preparing and filing any payroll tax returns not filed by payroll provider
- Managing vacation and sick time accruals and usage
- Reviewing W-2’s and approve for issuance
- Assisting HR in reviewing ACA reporting as needed
- Staying abreast of payroll tax changes
- Willing and able to:
- 1. Assist with registering with new state and local taxing authorities
- 2. Assist with union audits
- 3. Answer employee questions regarding pay and time off accruals
- 4. Perform general office administrative duties including, but not limited to, answering incoming calls, maintaining office supplies inventory, and managing guard uniforms
- 5. Assist with benefits administration as needed
- 6. Assist with entering accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed
Our office is currently located in the West End neighborhood of Pittsburgh and will be relocating to the downtown area in 4-6 months. There may be occasional travel to our Cranberry Twp. office. Office hours are 8:00 to 5:00, Monday through Thursday and 8:00 to 4:00 Friday. We offer a respectful, friendly work atmosphere and a generous benefits package including:

Qualifications
Successful candidates will have the following skills and attributes:
- Have a B.S. degree in Accounting or HR as well as 3 - 5 years of payroll experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically with Excel and Word.
- Experience using HRIS and Time and Attendance software (Paycor or TrackTik preferred)
- Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance
- Payroll Administration and/or SHRM certification a plus
- QuickBooks experience preferred but not required
- Experience with labor/union agreements
- Supervisory experience preferred
- High attention to detail
- Efficient time management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High alacrity – cheerfulness, willingness, promptness
- Amenable to doing tasks outside of Payroll
