Position Summary:
This coordinator position reports to BMEA’s Director of Youth & Family Engagement
The BMEA Site Coordinator is vital in the Youth Leadership Development program, ensuring its effectiveness by supporting High School Mentors who guide Elementary Mentees. This position is crucial to the program’s success, directly impacting positive outcomes and growth. Site Coordinators are expected to bring a strong commitment to collaboration, professionalism, and excellence, fostering an environment where students thrive as future leaders and changemakers. Their dedication is key to nurturing the next generation of educators and STEM professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and embody BMEA's mission, vision, and program goals. Implement restorative practices to support the community effectively.
- Cultivate high school mentors' leadership, communication, and youth development skills to enhance their effectiveness. Provide guidance and supervision to ensure mentors can support elementary students socially, emotionally, and academically.
- Oversee the execution of program sessions, ensuring efficient processes and procedures. Create and maintain a safe space for after-school programming.
- Collect & input, monitor, and analyze data to track program outcomes. Ensure timely submission of data and reports. (session attendance, teacher check-ins, report cards, standardized test scores, etc.
- Engage with families to keep them informed and involved in their children's progress and activities. Reaching out to ES families when absent from after-school programming
- Participate in community engagement events to foster a supportive network and strengthen community ties.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in mentoring youth, particularly in educational or community settings, is preferred.
- Demonstrated passion for supporting the growth and development of Black boys, with a commitment to fostering their academic, personal, and social success.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team, demonstrating cultural competence and adaptability in various educational environments.
- Currently enrolled in a college or university with at least 24 credit hours, preferably in education, social work, psychology, or STEM-related fields.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills, committed to professionalism and dependability.

Compensation
- Full-time hourly contracted employment
- Compensation distributed bi-weekly
- This position does not include a benefits package
