Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting our medical staff and ensuring that patients receive high-quality care in an outpatient setting. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, and the ability to work effectively in a clinic environment, including geriatrics and urgent care.
Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures in various settings including outpatient clinics and urgent care facilities.
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, medical histories, and documenting information accurately.
- Administer medications as directed by physicians and ensure proper documentation of medication administration.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and equipment, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Perform basic life support (BLS) as needed and assist in emergency situations.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and handle administrative tasks to support clinic operations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients across various specialties such as internal medicine and geriatrics.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (One year program at Vocational School) -or- Completion of an accredited LPN Program -or- Completion of an accredited EMT Program – or – a current CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification.
- Current CPR certificate Enjoys working with variety of patient ages and conditions/diagnosis
- Excellent organizational, internal and external service excellence skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present oneself as a professional
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, ever changing environment with multiple priorities
- Ability to work well independently and within teams
- Ability to prioritize work in an efficient manner
- Ability to recognize and respond to urgent needs in a timely manner
Preferred Qualifications:
- Holds current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant
- Prior knowledge/experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting
- Knowledge of Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) System
- Prior knowledge/experience working with regulatory standards (e.g. CMS, Joint Commission)
