Job Description
Sauk Valley Community College is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to work as Lead & Assistant Instructors for our Summer Camp program in Digital Arts, Technology & STEM.
We are looking for talented instructors who can teach exciting classes like Virtual Reality, YouTube Content Creation, Roblox, and more. As a summer camp instructor, you will have the opportunity to build your resume and have a ton of fun while working with children.
About the Position
This is a seasonal position from June through the end of July, with most positions being full-day (9:00 am - 4:00 pm), Monday-Thursday. Training begins in late spring and is provided by Black Rocket Productions.
Lead Instructor Requirements
- Minimum of a completed Bachelor's degree
- Teaching Certification preferred, but not required
- Teaching experience is preferred, but not required
The duties of our Lead Instructors include:
- Preparing adequately by reviewing and internalizing the prepared curricula for the courses to be taught
- Prepararing for and delivering multiple rotations of BRP curriculum per day to groups of up to 20 campers
- Familiarizing oneself with the necessary software in order to educate and utilize in the classroom
- Implementing the curriculum as written, adapting it as needed to improve the camper experience or accommodate individual campers
- Providing leadership, energy and camp spirit, constantly assessing group dynamics and the needs of individual campers
- Supervising Assistant Instructors working in your program area and inspiring them to become excellent instructors
- Establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in and outside the classroom
Assistant Instructor Requirements
- Enrolled in an undergraduate program
- Fine Arts or Technology-based field of study preferred, but not required
- Experience working with children is preferred, but not required

- Familiarizing oneself with the necessary software in order to educate and utilize in the classroom
- Assisting Lead Instructors in delivering the curriculum, learning skills necessary to be an effective and successful educator
- Providing leadership, energy and camp spirit, constantly assessing group dynamics and the needs of individual campers
- Establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in and outside the classroom
- Practicing and promoting positive interaction with and among students
- Assuming responsibility for the care of materials, equipment, and facilities
- Maintaining professional status through communication with students, parents, program directors and supervisors
- Supporting camper check-in and check-out processes
- Providing excellent customer service to parents by communicating with them on a daily basis about their camper's experience
